Metal Tech News - August 7, 2024
With global mining companies focused on minimizing their environmental footprint while maximizing the efficiency and profitability of producing the minerals needed to build a sustainable future, Komatsu will be showcasing its latest electrification solutions at MINExpo 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada, from Sept. 24 to 26.
Put on by the National Mining Association every four years, MINExpo is the largest mining event on Earth. Covering more than 700,000 square feet of the Las Vegas Convention Center, this grandest of mining conventions provides attendees with an up-close look at the latest mining products and a glimpse at the industry's future.
With a focus on helping today's challenges and providing a path forward for the global mining industry, Komatsu's booth spanning 47,500 square feet of MINExpo's Central Hall will demonstrate how its equipment, technologies, and people help mining companies prioritize safety, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.
Toward its commitment to assisting mining companies reduce their environmental impacts, Komatsu's booth will feature a range of electrification solutions for the mining industry.
Komatsu's MINExpo 2024 boot will feature:
• WX04B – Komatsu's first battery-electric powered LHD (load, haul, dump) underground loader, the four-metric-ton WX04B is ideal for narrow vein mines. Komatsu designed WX04B with industry-leading battery technology to help customers achieve their goals for safety, durability and high performance. WX04B will be shown alongside a new Komatsu-designed charging solution.
• PC4000-11E – With its 29-cubic yard bucket, the Komatsu PC4000-11E electric drive hydraulic mining excavator was engineered to deliver the powerful digging force operators need and expect from high-performance diesel machines while enabling zero-emissions loading.
• 930E PADT – Built on Komatsu's modular power agnostic platform that will allow for transition from diesel to battery or even hydrogen fuel cell power sources, the 930E PADT haul truck also supports dynamic charging and trolley assist options to further reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
In addition to equipment, Komatsu will showcase its collaborations with other organizations working toward a more sustainable future, including General Motors and ABB.
Late last year, Komatsu entered into a partnership with GM to power mining haul trucks with hydrogen fuel cells.
Komatsu has a longstanding equipment electrification partnership with ABB, a global mining technologies company that has been electrifying the mining sector for more than 130 years.
The latest Komatsu mining equipment, technologies, and solutions can be found at booth 7132 in MINExpo's Central Hall.
Additional products and solutions will also be featured by Komatsu subsidiaries – Hensley Industries (Booth 7114), Immersive Technologies (Booth 6823), Tramac (Montabert) (Booth 7314), and MST Global (Booth 7322).
