The Elements of Innovation Discovered

RecycLiCo wins Efficient Solution Label

American Manganese receives esteemed Solar Impulse award Metal Tech News – February 17, 2021

Recently, American Manganese Inc., inventor of the patented RecycLiCo closed-loop lithium-ion battery cathode recycling process was awarded the Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label, joining the ranks of positive impact businesses to protect the environment and is awarded to serve as a label for clean and profitable solutions.

"We are pleased that our RecycLiCo process was awarded the Solar Impulse Efficient Label," said American Manganese President and CEO Larry Reaugh. "Initiatives such as Solar Impulse's 1000 Solutions are validating innovative ideas that could change the world and we are grateful to be recognized as part of the solution."

American Manganese developed its RecycLiCo patented process to offer a closed-loop and environmentally friendly solution for the recycling of cathode materials used in lithium-ion batteries.

The recycling process provides high extraction and purity of battery materials, such as lithium, cobalt, nickel, manganese, and aluminum.

The RecycLiCo process was designed with the ultimate goal of producing recycled battery products that could be seamlessly and directly integrated into the re-manufacturing of battery cathodes using minimal processing steps.

This process has had such remarkable success that American Manganese reports a 99.88% purity level of recycled cathode materials, almost entirely salvaging all the material used in the production of battery cathodes.

The complete breakdown of the RecycLiCo process developed by American Manganese can be read at A new horizon for battery recycling in the February 19, 2020 edition of Metal Tech News.

To receive the Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label, selected technologies are thoroughly assessed by a pool of independent experts according to five criteria covering three main topics of feasibility, environmental, and profitability.

All labelled solutions then become a part of the 1000 Solutions Challenge, an initiative by the Solar Impulse Foundation to select technologies that meet the highest standards of the previous criteria, it is then presented to decision-makers in business and government by Bertrand Piccard, chairman of the Solar Impulse Foundation, to fast-track their implementation.

And that is exactly what is happening for American Manganese, with the incredible success it has already achieved on its own, now a massive think-tank of like-minded problem-solvers are going to further refine and improve this revolutionary recycling technology to further increase viability and possibly bolster scale and usage.

"Solutions exist that are logical more than just ecological, that can create jobs and generate profit while also reducing polluting emissions and preserving natural resources," said Bertrand Piccard, chairman of the Solar Impulse Foundation.

The Foundation involves itself in and has labeled technologies and companies contributing to its five sustainable development goals: clean water and sanitation; affordable and clean energy; industry, innovation, and infrastructure; sustainable cities and communities; and responsible consumption and production.

Currently, it holds 910 solutions between those categories, providing the networking and connections to spread awareness and enhancement to widely implement or improve these impressive technological solutions.

With electric vehicles, wearable electronics, and other cordless devices driving demand for batteries, American Manganese' RecycLiCo is primed to meet the surging need for technologies that recycle valuable battery materials back into the supply chain.

Congratulations to American Manganese from Metal Tech News, we hope to cover more successes and innovations from them in the future!
