The Elements of Innovation Discovered
Mining AI firms to offer interactive mineral exploration maps Metal Tech News – September 9, 2020
Two companies at the forefront of applying artificial intelligence to the mining and mineral exploration sectors are teaming up to provide investors and researchers powerful and user-friendly maps to explore mineral properties by geography, commodity, or deposit type.
Minerva Intelligence Inc., a Vancouver, British Columbia-based company that provides a suite of software and cognitive AI applications to mineral exploration companies, will be developing these interactive maps for Prospector, a company that is harnessing the power of AI to modernize the way investors and researchers search for and access information about mining.
Launched earlier this year, Prospector Portal is an AI-powered online platform that converts highly technical mining data into market intelligence contained within a user-friendly search engine that even non-traditional mining investors can use and understand.
"We consider Prospector to be part of the new guard of investor platforms," said Emily King, the geologist who founded Prospector.
This vanguard mineral investing platform became even more powerful in July, when Prospector signed a deal TMX Datalinx to offer investors a one-stop shop for digging deeper into more than 1,100 mining and mineral exploration companies listed on Canada's Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and Toronto Venture Exchange (TSX-V).
The new partnership with Minerva adds a new layer of value for Prospector Portal subscribers – easy-to-use and interactive digital maps of mineral exploration targets in mineral exploration areas identified by Prospector.
"Minerva's AI-powered mapping technology expands Prospector's capabilities in exciting ways," said King. "By utilizing their team's proven experience in building mineral target maps, we will be able to offer Prospector clients unique insights into new mining investment opportunities."
The target maps developed by Minerva are expected to save Prospector clients time and bridge gaps in knowledge by providing both explanations of how targets were identified, and providing advice on which missing data have the largest impact on the prospectivity of each target.
Minerva has previously built similar mineral target maps for Canada's Yukon Territory, Brazil, and Papua New Guinea.
"This partnership with Prospector represents a great leap forward in bringing valuable information to mining investors everywhere and we are thrilled for this opportunity," said Minerva Intelligence CEO Scott Tillman. "Our technology continues to gain the interest of thought leaders, executives and investors across the mining sector, as we continue to provide the stakeholders with tools and information that help them make confident decisions faster."
The missing data identified by the Minerva maps is also expected to assist explorers to prioritize further work on any targets of interest.
The target maps produced by Minerva will be embedded within the Prospector platform and subscribers will access them through relevant search results or direct browsing.
